Add a New Item

This is a basic tutorial just to get an item added. It's important to come back later to enter annotations and other metadata.

Info

The specific fields are yet to be finalized. Keep an eye out in the discord for updates. This tutorial will be updated as the fields are finalized.

In the admin dashbard, click on the Items link in the sidebar then at the top right, click on the Add an Item button. The page may take a few seconds to load.

Adding an Item

Values Tab

You'll need to fill out the following fields:

Field Description
Resource template The template to use for the item.
Class Choose the entry that best fits the content.
Title The title of the item.

Item sets Tab

Here you will add the item to an item set. The item is added to the "Default" set by default, and must be in at least one. You can add multiple sets if you want, but the item must be in at least one set. Remove the "Default" set after adding the item to the correct set.

If you don't know what category (item set) to put it in, you can leave it in the default set for now. It's better not to add the item at all rather than do this, as organizing a million items later is a nightmare.

Item sets under the dropdown Nathan are "Collections - Root" and not to be used here. Item sets under Matthew are the ones you should use. Try to use the most specific item set you can. If you don't see a set that fits, contatct the AAC organizers to create a new one.

Media Tab

This is where you can add media to the item. You can add multiple media files.

Important

You must put the item in an item set before you can add media to it. The first itemset you add it to determines the file location on the server. Moving large data files after they are uploaded take alot of time and resources, so it's best to get it right the first time.

For a more detailed guide on adding media, see the Adding Media to an Item page.

Sites Tab

Your user account has a default set based on your permissions. If you have access to multiple sites, you can add or remove them here.

Advanced Tab

This tab is used to set a thumbnail. You don't need to do this as the system generates one automatically.
